Music to the people... people to the music

WWW
« on: October 17, 2009, 05:08:08 AM »

Reuniting after a hiatus of several years.. creating a buzz in the Queen City that matches their contributions to help the Society keep doing what we do, we are happy to name Chasing Edison as our Featured Artist. Jeff Lewis (heffro on the boards) has been a contributing artist to CLMS since our inception, donating countless hours of graphic work for posters and our website... Do you like our logo? Thank Jeff Lewis.

Recently reformed in 2009, Chasing Edison is a groove based rock band from Charlotte, NC. Members Justin Babcock, Greg Dalton, Alex Giles, and Jeff Lewis draw from styles as diverse as progressive metal to improvised jazz fusion. They provide an ever-evolving unique experience through gut wrenching grooves, turn on the dime changes, and an awe-inspiring kaleidoscopic light show. Chasing Edison is an intense live experience not to be missed.

The band has kept things on the down low since finishing their demo earlier this year playing only select dates in North Carolina and Georgia. Engineered by Chris Mitchell (The Dead, Ratdog) and recorded while the band was waiting for Alex Giles (keys) to return to Charlotte after spending the summer in Washington, DC, according to Jeff Lewis (bass), "The demo has been received well and we're excited about unleashing the new material we've been working on... so it's on! We're going to be hitting the circuit for sure."

Watch for more dates... The band recently played a date in Atlanta that guitarist Greg Dalton described as, "...off the chain. They moved the festival indoors and we killed it. Atlanta was awesome."

A handful of CLMS members caught their headlining reunion show at Mayfest 8 in Midland, NC where festivarians were found walking to their tents muttering, "Who the f*$% were they and when are they playing next?"

Thanks CLMS!
It's truly an honor. We really appreciate the warm welcome we've received here...and from Carolina music lovers in general. We feel lucky to be part of such a great community.

We're very excited about the future.
We just booked studio time for our first full length album, that will happen at the beginning of the year. We'll also be expanding our shows throughout the Carolinas and the Southeast...can't wait to see all the new faces. Thanks to everyone for the support, you guys rock! It's a beautiful thing, we truly appreciate it.

We'll see you out a show for sure. Whether it's ours, yours, or any one of the incredible bands out there right now.

yeah, we added a pre-halloween show tonight (10-30) at the intersection of trade and tryon (disk plaza).  We'll be on by 9, and hopefully be able to play until 11 or so (if the law doesn't shut us down before then).  Dress up and let's get down!!

It was so much fun, wish you could have made it! We had a great crowd...lots of costumes. Slash even showed up with a guitar hero axe and had a battle with Greg! Too funny...

Most of us did come from other Charlotte bands.
Justin was in Stumble and Matone.
I was in Near Gravity and Alex was in Matter of Fact.

Greg moved down from Raleigh, but he was playing in C-flat.
We're kind of a melting pot!
