Apparently aware that jamband cliches were already beaten to death 10 years ago, Umphrey's McGee takes the genre's tired conventions and turns them on their ear. The band starts with progressive and heavy rock influences such as King Crimson and Dixie Dregs and crosses over into a zone we haven't yet classified. Not unlike their contemporaries moe., Umphrey's isn't afraid to craft actual songs -- adventurous and innovative but also catchy, engaging, and sometimes even concise.

Turns out I'll be playing bass with Bon and the opening act, and I hope for some killer sit ins as well!  I hear there might be.
