Carolina Live Music Society Presents...

The Official Furthur After Party

GET YOUR MANTRA ON
with
THE YOGAS!!!!!

Formed in 2003, this quintet featuries Keefa Rawk on guitar and vocals, Marka Sorth (vocals/guitar), Brain Tagdol (bass, synth), Brent Vain (percussion), and DJ DownLo on drums, has been gaining an army of fans with their unique blend of progressive rock, jazz, fusion and funk splattered with something. The Yogas 'f*$% you, now have a good time... oh btw we love you' attitude always makes for an evening filled with dancing, laughter, and good times. With their off the wall live show, it's not uncommon for the Yogas to traverse many genres during a single performance, or even in a single song. Reminiscent of the blistering yet thoughtful songwriting heard in the early recordings of Frank Zappa, Led Zepplin, or The Beatles, the Yogas (formerly known as Eht Sartnam), excel with their virtuous playing while never losing sight of the overall arrangements of their songs. They've been described as a band of fools you can't help but love. Far and wide The Yogas etch permanent impressions into the minds of ticketholders that travel great distances to see them perform what they call "The Spectacle". After a sold out concert in their hometown of Orobsneerg, located somewhere west of Amsterdam, a wide eyed fan was found walking aimlessly, bobbing his head, smiling as he muttered, "t'nod kcuf htiw ykcowrebaj... t'nod kcuf htiw ykcowrebaj... t'nod kcuf htiw ykcowrebaj..."

...or so it's been told

Jon Scales Fourchestra

Mixing a traditional Caribbean instrument with a contemporary jazz attitude, Jonathan Scales' music pushes the steel pan into the realms of funk, rock, and even bluegrass while still digging into the roots of traditional world sounds such as reggae and latin. His intricate, instrumental writing combines with metric complexities to weave seamlessly between musical styles.

I wouldn't announce it as the Mantras either. Did you see the way they put a hurting on the Neighborhood Friday?

See??? I'm hearing it! The audio is not what I would have hoped for but the audience track is priceless.. what on earth was everyone so fired up about? I've only seen people hanging over the balcony maybe a dozen times and certainly not for a "regional" act!! Fire. I knew it was on when Keith jumped up on the riser before going into Five Roads, held his guitar up, and 700 roared like it was a freakin' arena.. powerful shit right there. The new markets for '10 are in for it they'll be loaded with confidence, new material, and a CD. Northeast friends need a heads up. Might be time to go make some new yankee friends on Facebook. Better suck it up while we still can cause we'll be roadtripping Feb. and March.. Milleneum Center St Patty's w/ P-groove! Oh oops sorry... Yogas @ DD 2/10 after Furthur

but of course we musn't hijack this topic... this show is The Yogas/Jon Scales Fourchestra

"...the Yogas (formerly known as Sartnam Reverse), excel with their virtuous playing and superior musicianship while never losing sight of the overall arrangements of their songs. After a sold out concert in their hometown of Orobsneerg a wide eyed fan was found walking aimlessly in the venue's parking lot mumbling the strange mantra, "t'nod kcuf htiw ykcowrebaj."

no finger this is a furthur after party. Those that head to the Fillmore need to set up their own after party. This one's for the Dead Heads

Wonder if DJ DownLo will be spinning the vinyl with one hand and bustin the beats in the other

Doubt it will help but I wonder if they'll let us put together the setlist

If so I'm hoping for something old old with something circa '09...

Yrolg ->
ydducillligcm (with crowd "f*$% you's" on one and three during Brain's solo)

like having your junk fondled before getting kicked square in the family makers... call me a masochist but for some reason I think it would work

or play what got teased in Greenwood

Up the Irons!
