THE MANTRAS

www.themantras.net

Formed in 2003, this Greensboro, NC quintet, consisting of Keith Allen (vox/guitar) vox, Marcus Horth (vox, guitar) ; Brian Tyndall (bass, bkgrd vox), Brent Vaughn (percussion), and Justin Loew on drums, has been gaining an army of fans with their unique blend of rock, fusion, jazz, and funk, as well as their off the wall live shows. It is not uncommon for the band to not only traverse these genres in a single performance, but to do so in a single song. Reminiscent of the blistering energy found in early seventies recordings of Frank Zappa's touring band, the Mantras excel with their virtuosic playing and superior musicianship, all the while not losing sight of the overall arrangements and songs. The band shifts seamlessly from one type of music to the next, a truly well –oiled machine, honed tight from years of live shows. On their debut self-titled release, the band continues in the tradition of being a musical melting pot, without feeling forced or unnatural. From the opening funk freak out of "Metronome," to the tongue in cheek hipness of "Jean Claude Band Van," never a moment passes with the Mantras that can't be described as pure fun. Able to send any listener in any direction in the musical universe at any moment, it is this unpredictability and spontaneity that will take any audience on a sonic joyride, and part of the reason why the Mantras are becoming known as one of the premier rock/fusion acts in the Southeastern U.S.

HOPE MASSIVE

www.hopemassive.com

For the last four years Hope Massive has been touring up and down the East Coast USA to Japan and back. Hope Massive has worked as supporting artist for such groups as Midnite, The Wailers, Damien Marley, Gregory Isaacs, Groundation, Toubab Krewe, The Gin Blossoms, Pato Banton, The Spam Allstars, Morgan Heritage, The Poncho Sanchez Latin Jazz Band, Israel Vibrations, Culture, The Mediations, Eek-a-Mouse, The Itals and blues legend Etta Baker. Hope Massive has performed at such festivals as Floyd Fest, The Asheville Music Jamboree (AM Jam), The Appalachian State University Jazz Festival, Hurricane Katrina Red-Cross Relief, Junaleska African Heritage Festival, Raleigh Downtown Live, Ziggy's Downtown Live and Camp Reggae. Formed in 2004, the international roots group Hope Massive is a rare blessing of roots and vintage dancehall music. Priding themselves on positive forward movement; rather than competition and instant success, a new foundation has been created between the five-piece band assembled from the areas most humble and respected musicians. Just like there music, Hope Massive demonstrates there ability to maintain positivity while mashing up the dance floor; delivering beautiful melodies, luscious harmonies and explosive lead lines to create a unique and original sound. The intensity of the rhythm section creates evocative grooves that cannot be denied by young-old, black-white, red-yellow, poor or wealthy. People music for the People.

Keefa I have a request. I know your not big on requests and Chris keeps wearing you guys out wanting to hear Jessica and all...But would you please pretty please play Working Man by RUSH??  BUT can you change some lyrics for me  Grin  change Working Man to Wookie Man.  I think it's perfect for a Bob Marley Birthday celebration and I think the Mantras are the perfect band to cover it.

"I guess that's why they call me... They call me the Wookie Man!"

This was previously and incorrectly posted as:

$10 @ the door
All Ages Show

this is wrong.  Double Door is never All Ages.  This should have read and does now read:

$12 at the door
$10.00 w/ CLMS badge
18+ w/ ID

Sorry for any confusion...
