We'll be interviewing Sci Fi LIVE right here at CLM.net and want you to take part on Wednesday night, January 28th @ 9:00 pm.

We have Tyler Simmons (keys/vocals) confirmed and expect Tim Philpott (bass/vocals) to also take part in the live interview.  The format will be 30 minutes of Q & A with myself, finishing up with an open discussion for friends and fans to talk with the band.  This will be a lot of fun as we discuss 2008 and where Sci Fi is launching off to in 2009.

You can also take part in the discussion we're having about the upcoming show with
Sci Fi @ The Double Door Inn Charlotte, NC 1/30/09 (this Friday) .

See ya here @ 9:00 pm!!

Peace...

Ok folks will be getting started really soon.  During my Q&A with the guys please hold on to your questions until we open up the interview to you at the end.  Have your questions ready because many times when you try to get your's in somebody else who is quicker on the draw has stepped in before you.  Tonight we have JP working the backend and Brad posting the pics.  They'll also hold their questions so we can open things up as quickly as possible.

Rest assured EVERYONE will get their questions answered. Once a question is posted PLEASE be courteous and wait for the guys to answer that question before attempting to submit your own. We'll remove your question... but you can try again or if you're having trouble getting your question in no worries.  Email your question to candy@carolinalivemusic.net and she will post all of those questions at the end of the interview.  Hopefully we can talk the guys into logging in at a later time to answer those. Ok?

During the interview we have a very long, kick ass, Sci-Fi jam playing on the mini player.  We highly recommend that you get that bad boy playing and then open another window or tab to take part in the interview.  That way you can read, listen, and not miss a thing!

TO KEEP UP WITH THE CONVERSATION YOU WANT TO REFRESH YOU BROWSER FREQUENTLY.  THIS IS NOT A CHAT ROOM IT'S A MESSAGE BOARD SO REFRESH, REFRESH, REFRESH... sorry I didn't mean to scream that Wink

Just give us a few minutes and we'll get started

Some of our members aren't familiar with Sci Fi maybe you can shed some light...
[at Tyler] When did Sci Fi become a band and how did you guys meet?  Also, how would you best describe your music?

[at Tim] - What made you guys decide on a trio?  At Loki you had a guitar player... is that something you guys do often?

Well, I personally dig being a trio because its something a little different. Plus, in a trio each member is 100 per cent involved at all times with the music.
At Loki our friends Benjamin Forehand and Ginza came out and sat in with us.  We like to have special guests from time to time. And going back to the trio thing- its quite easy to accommodate guests when there is only 3 of us.

Hmm how did we meet?  Well, Wilmington is a small town and has a tiny group of people that consider themselves musicians.  It wasn't long after I moved here that I ran into both Tim and Justin.  First and foremost, I dug them as people.  I knew that even though they seemed strange like me that they were good people.  We really hit it off musically from there.

It's really, really hard for me to decribe our music in two demensional text.  I always feel like I sell ourselves short by putting it into a category.  It's always changing, usually instrumentally, and combines elements of jazz, funk, latin, trance, house, drum and bass, 70's fusion, and avant garde.  Im sure I missed a few...

[at Tyler] How and when did you get started on keys?  Have you always played keyboards or did you migrate over from another instrument?

[at Tim] Same question... how and when? You're a hell of a bass player.  I really enjoy how you allow what Tyler is doing to "breathe".  What bass player would you say most heavily influences your playing?
